Inserting Anchor or Stake into Turf

If you are going to place a large object on your turf like a play structure or bounce house and you need to secure it with stakes, please follow these directions.

****** Do not try to jam the stake in without cutting the turf first. This will cause an indent in your sub-base

  1. You will need a carpet knife or something similar that can be used to cut the turf.

  2. Find the area where the stake will be installed. Once you have located the area, use your fingers to spread apart the turf blades until you can see the bottom of the turf. You will see the black backing (or infill) between the stick rows. This area can be cut with out damaging the turf blades.

  3. Once you have located the area, grab the knife and cut a straight line in the center of the two stitch rows through the backing. Length of the line will depend on how big the stake is. ***** if stake is one inch, cut a two inch line.

  4. Hammer the stake into the cut line. Do not put too much pressure when hammering in. Once the stake has reach the backing, stop hammering so you don’t go too far and indent the base.

  5. Brush the area with your hand once you have pulled out the stake. Area should look the same as it did before.
